Practicing Empathy - Two Sides of 1 Coin

One of the most complex topic I've chosen to write about is this.

So it's a general and a very popyular understanding that it's good to practice empathy.

But Here's my take on this.

Like every story has Two sides. This too has got both. And Most often we are stuck in one of the cases and feel why it is the way it is.

So, here is it.

You're personally a Kind person who always ensures nobody should face any kind of trouble. Seeing people in pain pains you more. Now, ideally, this is actually a good sign. A sign of sensible being. And in today's world there's a scarcity of such beings.

But, Here's another side. Just because we're kind it's natural for us to expect kindness, or acts of supportiveness from others. It is said that don't expect anything. But what I feel, is it really possible. For me, it's not. Subconsciouslly you'll always expect some kind of return.

And when things don't happen, you'll blame yourself for giving too much.

What I feel is that don't blame. Its quite natural to feel exhausted after giving and not receiving anything in return.

But Here's one thing you can do about it.

Just take this example. There are 2 glasses. Glass 1 and Glass 2. Glass 1 is always pouring it's resource that is water into Glass 2 and in return Glass 2 is not doing the same thing.

What will happen? Eventually Glass 1 will end up having nothing.

But Here's a catch. What if Glass 1 has a resource which continuosly pours it's water into it? In this case, even if Glass 1 keep pouring into Glass 2, it will never be empty ever again.

Now it's not about glasses.

What I mean is that Find your endless resource in Life.

There can be many.

For me some of the Endless Resources can be as below:-

1. Spirituality

Whenever you feel like things are not going my way pr not working out. Believe him.

Believing that some stronger resource has his hands on you makes you feel little less sad.

2. Parents

No one. I repeat no one in your life can love you as unconditional as your parents.

Having a heart to heart talk with them can literally fix somethings

3. Hobbies

For me Hobbies are my best friends. Whenever I feel there's no one around to hear, I use my hobby as an art to express my pain. And suprisingly when I started this, so many people find it relatable.

So, next time you are down try these.

I've tried and it really helped.

Having a Good heart is always a good thing. But knowing when you're not in a position to give something is equally important and will save you from being drainied out completely.
